Well after a wordpress update, this website completely crashed (causing both a 500 internal server error and/or a permanent ‘maintenance mode’ message). The culprit? Apparently Yoast’s WordPress SEO plugin. I would furnish you with a handy fix guide, however I failed in resolving the problem in any meaningful way. My solution was to delete my entire wordpress directory, then re-upload using my out-of-date backup. While this has recovered everything that was stored in the database, unfortunately the same did not apply to the uploads directory… yeah I know, I should have backed that up… actually I thought I wasn’t deleting it, but for due to a brain-fart, I did. The upshot is, all plugins needed to be re-installed and all the media re-uploaded. So give me a few days and things should be back to normal around here.
